Unity Temple was founded in 1975 under the leadership of the late Bishop Gaston Staten, Sr. Bishop Staten, Lady Lavern Staten, and the leadership staff carefully built the church on solid Bible doctrine. The ministry has reached thousands with the gospel message and helped many individuals across the country in their Christian walk. For over 39 years, the church has actively preached the word, fed the hungry, visited and ministered to the sick, and has offered a variety of services to enhance the lives of people in the community. Such programs include tutoring young people to help them reach their educational goals and providing temporary shelter for the homeless.
In September 2007, the mantle of leadership was passed to our present leader, Pastor Steven Staten. Under his straightforward-leadership, Pastor Staten is impacting the community, building leaders for the 21st century, and changing lives by preaching, teaching and modeling Christian success! Love and evangelism are the emphasis of his ministry. Caring and compassionate outreach to people of all walks of life is constantly emphasized using a team approach. This year we will celebrate 40 years of service to the Body of Christ and the community. Biblically, 40 is the period of testing; like the children of Israel in the wilderness God has sustained the ministry for His glory. Like Israel, we too expect to walk in God’s promise as we go over the bridge connecting the test of endurance with promise and purpose.
